Popping out of P.J.'s

Thanks to everyone who checked on S after his appointments. At feeding therapy this week he acted very much like he acts at home. (Generally, he does great and makes it look like there is nothing wrong with his eating.) However, our feeding therapist thinks it was related to him not feeling well. We think that is a big part of the eating problem. S gets an upper respiratory something or another just about every other week and sometimes more often, and when he is sick, we see increased feeding issues. He got better after a few days this week but now he is under the weather again, so hopefully once he is better, his feeding will improve. After feeding therapy, we saw his pediatrician. We learned he had gained 8 ounces (without clothes) and is now up to 18 lbs. 4 oz. I was pleased to see this weight gain from the last 4 weeks considering he had been sick part of this time. Then, he had 3 shots! He did pretty well after this, having only a little fever that afternoon.

Even with all of his weight challenges, S is finally starting to grow out of a few things, mainly his p.j.'s! He is getting too tall to wear his 6-9 month "Sleep N Plays!" We could barely get them on him this week, so I bought some new p.j.s for him! I think he can still wear all of his winter clothes that he wore when we very first got him (for a few weeks in April before it got warmer), but some of his pants, while they fall down around his ankles due to his lack of a waist and hindquarters, they actually look like high-waters before they fall down! :)

Now for a recent funny picture...S decided recently that he likes to lay down in the bath water. He is pretty silly, and I'm wondering if maybe we need to start swimming lessons! I'm also thinking about gymnastics, as he is climbing on everything!! The director of his daycare even pulled me aside Friday to tell me how much he is climbing on things in his daycare room. Do they have gymnastics for 19 month old children??

Very cute picture! Ilya has just started to grow out of his 6-9 month clothes as well. He's also 19 months old. He weighs 21 lbs and is 31 1/4" tall. He's a little peanut! He eats everything in sight but is so active, which I think is why he's having trouble gaining weight.

Ilya also comes home with an upper respiratory something or other nearly every week. I guess he's getting it from other kids in daycare. He's also more likely to get sick since he was a premie. I hate to see him sick so often but he bounces back quickly.

I hope the feeding therapy continues to go well. Good luck!

Great picture. Glad to hear he is starting to grow out of clothes. I wish I could learn from him how to stay thin!

I love the picture. It is always cute to watch them try to swim, hold their breath, and play in the bathtub. Of course, it makes a mother nervous too.

I'm so glad your visit to the doctor was so positive and that S is gaining weight. Isn't it funny that they grow out of their pj's first. Ha. Any pictures of the pj's to share?

Daniel loves to lay down in the tub and experiment with different levels of noise when his ears are underwater! I've debated on swimming lessons also!

I'm so glad S gained those 8 ounces and I hope they are the start of many more.

Sorry to hear S is sick so often. Trust me, we know exactly how that is in our house. He is too cute in the tub. If you find those gymnastics class, let me know. I think I need to enroll Bryson in some also.

I'm glad the feeding therapy is going well and that S is putting on weight.

Thanks for your comment on our blog. I will definitely be stopping by here to see what is new in your world on a regular basis!

This photo is too cute! And boy do I ever remember when a certain someone at our house would eat fairly well in other settings but then not eat when home alone with us. Very frustrating. I'm glad your feeding therapist was able to see S's typical eating habits, to better help with his treatment.

Hey! Check out My Gym. Abby LOVES it--they can climb, tumble, fall, run all over everything with no cares! Glad to see you're doing well.

Thank goodness he is gaining weight. I used to love to lay down in the tub. I sorry to hear that he gets sick frequently. I hope that does not last much longer for him.
He has always so active! How do you keep up with him?
