While We Wait...

This past week we got the rest of our nursery furniture, which included a dresser and a night stand. We now have our furniture, our bedding, a rug, and a rocker recliner. The nursery still needs that "pulled together" warm touch, but we are working on ordering some pictures to help with the walls. I found a great website online with some cute wall art. The link is http://www.farmhousefive.com/. Also, my sister-in-law Mary bought us a cute green gingham ribbon board that will be perfect above the dresser or the night stand. It's definitely coming together!

There are some cute animal pictures on the website above that will go with the "Twinkle, Twinkle" them. They also have some cute personalized prints that I want to order, but we have to wait until we have the "official" name of our child until we can order them. (By the way, we have some name ideas, but we are also open to possibly using our child's given Russian name, either as his/her first or middle name.)

I had to go out of town for work on Thursday and Friday (my travel time not including the time I actually worked those days was about 18 hours!!) so I had some airplane and airport time to read more of my "Adoption Parenting" book. I read about attachment, food, baggage, discipline, and loss and grief. I feel like I'm learning a lot, but I don't know how much or how many different books we need to read on these issues. I purchased 2 more that Adrienne recommended, but I still don't know what is enough. Please feel free to share any book titles that you feel are an absolute must read for adopting or parenting an adopted child!

We're still working on the layout and the details, but here are some updated pictures of the nursery. (The changing table flips to become a dresser. Pretty cool!)

The cute green gingham ribbon board

A cute blanket that a good friend Miss Sandra brought to us yesterday (she picked it after seeing the verse on our blog.)

Hi,

The nursery looks so pretty! It's great that you are reading now because there is no time once your little one is home!! Don't worry, though, if you get the main idea behind attachment and ideas for things to do to promote it once you are with your child, he or she will be fine. I am amazed everyday at the improvements we've seen in Owen.

It was fun to read my name in your post! :)

Hope you're both doing well. I'm praying for you!

Love,
Adrienne

I was so excited to see your blog this morning before I left for Louisville. I love your nursery theme and furniture you have chosen. We also did cherry furniture for our son's room and it looks great with the greens and blues we choose for his room. We are now going to convert it to greens and pinks for our little princess. I just decided that we would wait to begin our nursery design until we are a little further in the wait process. Plus, we aren't sure if we will receive a girl that is 36 months or one that is 12 months. That makes a huge difference when designing a nursery. Luckily, our son will be old enough to go to a twin bed and our crib converts to a daybed. So, we will use the crib either as a crib or a daybed for our little one from Russia.

Sorry for the rambling. We loved seeing your progress on the nursery.

Best wishes!

The nursery looks so nice. It's so much fun putting it together. We are waiting to do most of it until in between trips if we can help it. It's hard not to go in there and put it all together. It looks great!!

Hi Carrie & Michael, You have a very cute green and blue theme to the room. It's neutral and will be perfect for a girl or boy. The waiting can be difficult at time but just keep yourself thinking postive. I have not heard of Tiver. What do you know of it? Keep in touch would you? I am exited for you both and will pray you get a referral quickly. God Bless, Danica
