Curious Little Man!
We had most of our house baby-proofed before S came home (with the help of our family!), even though we were not sure to what extent we would need it. Not long after he came home and began to get comfortable with his surroundings, he started exploring. He is an extremely curious little fellow! :) Over the past few months, we've put things up, put things away, bought a fireplace lock (yep-he got into it and put stuff in his mouth...more than once), etc. Recently, he learned how to unhook our cabinet locks, just as we unhook them. Hmmm...this made things more tricky. So, thanks to the recommendation of our good friends the Ginsbergs who saw S in action unhooking the latches last week, we now purchased some gadgets that go on the outside of the cabinets. They've been on since Sunday and worked for two days. I'm sure he'll figure out how to get into them at some point, but hopefully we'll have them protected for a few weeks at least. I also made him his own cabinet full of plastic bowls, etc. that he can play with until his little heart is content! :) Now he is really going after the drawers. Our next goal is to add latches to the drawers that he is currently interested in exploring. Here are some pictures to show you just how busy our little man really is...

This afternoon S saw a pediatric gastroenterologist for the first time. He is going to do one test (he said our pediatrician already ran many that he would look into), he is putting S on a medicine to increase his appetite, and his dietician recommended a few more calorie supplements (Benecalorie=330 calories/cup and Boost pudding.) S had gained a few more ounces in a couple of weeks, and his head had grown since the last time it was measured. So on a very positive note, while it is very slow going, he is making a tad of progress. Praise God for this blessing! As you can see, S is excited about this, too! :)

At least his weight is going in the right direction, that's progress! Very funny about the child proofing. I hired a company to put latches on all my cabinets and drawers right before we came home. It took Chase all of about 24 hours home to figure them out and open them! Thank goodness he never really cared too much about stuff in the cabinets, but just tonight I found the ice cream scooper hidden in the couch!
Funny how our little ones are so clever and learn how to unlock our cabinets, etc. by observation. Glad you got some suggestions and found something to help keep little hands out of dangerous areas. I also love that S has his own cabinet full of goodies. Too fun!
The turtle pictures are cute!
Glad he's slowly growing.
I keep wondering how well we're baby proofed. She's close to crawling and I think I'm going to be in shock at what she gets into.
Glad he is still gaining weight even if it's a few ounces at a time. ALl the hard work will pay off. We have also had to re-baby proof - these kids are smart!!
Carrie- What a busy little guy! I lovee the photos... lol! There are some great cabinet locks that are magnetic caled Tot locks. Chris and I used them when we lived in NY. The only thing is if you lose the gadget to get into the cabinets, you're stuck. Even we couldn't get into them if that happened!
I am glad to hear he gained a few more ounces... he's headed in the right direction!
Hi - That is wonderful news about his weight gain. Great pictures with the baby-proofing. He is so cute - that last picture is precious!
What good news about the weight gain. He is a very busy little guy.
Thank you for your comments on my blog. I know that I must put this adoption in God's hands.

Elizabeth has pointed out the areas of our house that need "child proofing". Glad that S is gaining some weight. Hope all else is going well for you guys?
Yay for S putting on a few more ounces! How is the medicine to increase his appetite working?
