More Appointments...
Both of the doctor's appointments this week were very quick, and S sat still in my lap while he was being examined for both of them. For anyone who has met S, it is hard to imagine him sitting still at all! He is a VERY busy little boy!! The doctors were great with him, and he did very well with both of them.
The hearing tests were fine, and the eye appointment confirmed that he will need surgery on his eye muscles. Our IA doctor wants him to have his "little boy" surgery the same day in order to take care of everything at once. So, he will now see the pediatric urologist before they schedule everything. With all of his appointments, I think I need a calendar just for him! I think we've talked to Vanderbilt almost everyday this week about scheduling one appointment or another. We are very grateful to them for coordinating everything for him. They just let us know where to be and when to be there, and this is very helpful!
His first appointments regarding his eating issues are next week. If you don't mind, please pray that we can figure out what is going on so that we can help him eat better and to consistently gain weight.

My thoughts and prayers are always with you guys. I hope there are answers next week with the speech/dysphagia team.
Our prayers are with you too - all the way from his sweet little eyes, to his tummy and beyond!
S - good luck with everything!!
We are saying a prayer for everything to go well with S's appointments. That is so cute that he sat in your arms for his last appointments.
I did go back in your blog and I love baby S's nursery. Those pictures are so adorable on the wall!-You may have given me some ideas! I love the idea of a dresser as a changing table, too. Hope you are having a great weekend!
I will be praying that all goes well with the appointments this week and that they find out why S. is not gaining the weight. I enjoyed reading Michael's article for CHI.
Glad to hear the appointments went well. Artem's "little boy" surgery is this Thursday and for the first time I'm starting to get nervous. I'm laughing about your calendar b/c I had to put one up in the kitchen to keep track of Artem's appts.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I will pray that he learns to enjoy all different types of foods and gains enough weight.

We'll definantly be praying for your appointments and a food routine that works for S. Keep us posted.
My son has been home almost 7 months and our biggest challenge has been eating and gaining weight. He's never really had much interest in food and would keep food in his mouth for long periods of time. I'm happy to say that after 6 1/2 months we finally have gotten to the issue. He was diagnosed with H-Pylori which is a bacteria in the stomach. He was tested for this when he first came home but the test (stool sample) came back negative. After just 2 weeks on medication he's eating! It's been amazing to watch a child who never wanted to eat to a little boy who says more! I share this in that I wish I would have had him retested. I'm sure you're getting great care but if you've not tested or maybe if you have you might want to do it again. Good Luck.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you schedule the eye and little boy surgeries for S. I hope the doctors are able to determine ways to help him eat too. Bless his little heart. So much going on in such a short period of time. He is such a trooper!!
Checking in on what happened at the appointments.
