A Week Closer...
This past week has been pretty quiet related to our adoption. We're hanging in there and doing pretty well with the wait as we have focused on finishing his room, bathroom, and play area in our bonus room. As we get things in order, we are praying that we will get our court date soon and be preparing for another trip to Russia. It has been almost 9 weeks since we have seen our little boy. As I have thought of him over the past few days, I try to remember that we are getting closer to seeing him each day, even though we don't know when we will return to Russia for court and to bring him home with us. We pray the wait will end soon!
Last Sunday, some of our good friends from church and Michael's sister had a shower for us following our church service. They had a baseball theme, and everything was very nice. We really appreciate our friends and what they did for us. We received a lot of really nice gifts. Here are a few pictures from the shower:
In the next picture, I'm holding a gift from our friends Jan and Mo that includes the adoption poem "Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, you didn't grow under my heart- but in it" by Fleur Conkling Heylinger. This was very special as a friend of mine who is adopted shared this poem with me several months ago and told me that it hung on the wall in her room growing up. We hung this on our little boy's wall right by the door. This same family also gave us "The Parent's Prayer."
Below is a picture of Michael and I opening gifts.
Hopefully, we will receive some positive information in the next week! We are ready to go back and hold our little boy!!!

Oh isn't it fun! It looks like you had a really nice shower. Isn't it just the best feeling after waiting all those years and attending hundreds of showers - and now it's for you!
I'm so happy for you guys!
It sounds like you had a very nice shower and received some wonderful gifts. I hope you hear something soon. I know how hard the wait is.
It looks like you had a very special shower. I love the poem, and actually hadn't thought about hanging it in our nursery until I read your post. (Duh!)
We continue to pray for you to receive a court date very soon so that your little boy can come home where he belongs!
Love that poem - great idea to hang it in his room. Sounds like a great showet. Can't wait to hear more.
How exciting! More gifts for the little guy! I hope you're court date is right around the corner. I love the framed poem - it is so perfect!

I love that poem. We, too, have a copy hanging in our house.
Looks like a wonderful shower.

Great shower!! Glad you are passing the time, but I'll be praying for your court date!
Carrie, I know you must be starting to become more anxious to return to your baby boy. I'm not sure how long you were told to expect to wait, but I believe you are close to that time. I remember hitting the 3 month mark waiting for Owen and how hard it was. You sound like you are staying strong and hopeful to hear something soon! It shouldn't be long now!!
I'm so glad you had a nice shower. I'm sorry we weren't able to come! Looks like you got some great gifts!! I love the poem too, and I love the idea of hanging it in the nursery!
Praying for you to be invited to return to your sweet boy very soon!
:)
Carrie - I am not sure I asked you... where are you registered? Thinking good throughts for you.... Love, Emily in NY
What a nive shower! I hope you don't have to wait much longer!
Hi!! I just found your blog. I just wanted to say congratulations and good luck on your trip. I have a daughter from Novokuznetsk, Russia and we are currently awaiting a court date to return to Novokuznetsk for our son. We are also from Lebanon but have recently moved to VA - so we used to be "neighbors." I hope all goes well and I can't wait to hear more about your journey.
I keep checking hoping for news of a court date. I cannot wait to hear or read about your upcoming travels. Hopefully, it will be very soon!
