Knee Deep
I've felt a little like the lady in the picture over the past few weeks! We're still waiting...and now knee deep in updating our dossier! We originally thought the update would be pretty easy since we've done one before. However, with many new requirements for Tver that are quite difficult to accomplish in the state of Tennessee, the past few weeks have been very frustrating and extremely overwhelming at times. Our coordinator said to hold off for now on a few of the documents (after we hit some roadblocks), as they don't know what will be requested going forward. It has definitely been way more challenging than putting together our original dossier. We are in the process of gathering at least 60 documents (and we have to have 2 originals of each of them)! Fortunately, my friend Mandi, who received her referral in early August, has been a tremendous help, as they are dealing with the same challenges of Tver's requirements in California. We are lucky that we have time on our side because she and her husband had a deadline imposed by the judge to get these items done after their first trip. We don't have an official deadline but have been told we need to have everything updated and ready for our first trip-since we don't know when that will be, I want to get things completed as soon as possible!
I keep checking with CHI to see how much longer the region is going to wait before giving referrals. We've been back and forth about the possibility of changing regions, but since we are next in line in Tver, we are staying there for now. The fact that Michael registered our dossier there definitely impacts our decision, too! However, it is very hard not knowing how many months it might take for things to change there.
Please pray that we will get our dossier finished soon and that God will open doors with the documents that are posing such challenges for us right now.
P.S. The last few weeks have been very hard on me and therefore very hard for my husband! God bless him! And thankfully God did bless him last night by unexpectedly giving him the opportunity to do something he absolutely loves to do! I'll post more about this soon!

What a great picture! I didn't even need to read your blog to know how you felt - the picture told a thousand words! :-) I'm positive you can get through this - where there is will, there is a way! Can't wait to hear about Michael's exciting news!
Wow!! 60 new documents! I can't even imagine what new things can be dreamed up to tell anymore about a person. It's just amazing! It sounds like you are so close though. That must feel a little encouraging. Hang in there! As Becky said..where there is a will, there is a way. I can't wait to be so happy for you!
Sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed with all the new paperwork. I would too with that much to do. I hope it means that you are going to get a referral right after submitting all of the new dossier paperwork. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this is what it will mean.
Wow Carrie - I knew things were changing in Tver but how difficult to have to complete all that additional paperwork - redoing a dossier is hard enough. You are in our prayers frequently and know that the difficulties you are expereincing now will only make the end of this journey that much sweeter. Looking forward to hearing about what Micheal's up to!
It is a pain it is to have to redo docs -we are doing the same now. Take a deep breath and just do one thing at a time. But it is totally overwhelming and extremely frustrating I know.
Hang in there, you can do whatever you want to with a strong will and mind. AND you are sooo close now - don't give up!!
You guys are in my prayers! I hope everything works out and your holidays are great, I know you are waiting for that call. It WILL COME
I'm always amazed at your patience. You are always so calm or appear to be. It was nice having lunch together on Friday. We will keep you and Michael in our prayers as you move forward with the adoption and in other areas of your life!
Hey Guys,
Hang in there with all of the paperwork! I had to update our dossier 3 times and am now working on regional documents for the second time. Our region has added some new requirements as well. It's alot of work but you will get through it and of course you know, it'll all be worth it once you see your baby's face. Pace yourselves and set daily goals, doing that helped us so much. I'll be praying for you!
Blessings,
Penny
Ugh, I feel for you. I never had to update our dossier. Just getting the first one done was hard enough.
Blessings to you both!
